Installation instruction:
The fastener has been designed for installation using a pre-heating process;
Care must be exercised to ensure that the fastener softens but does not meltthe plastic;
This will avoid any tendency to generate unsightly flash aroundthe top of the insert and ensure optimum performance;
Excessive pressureshould be avoided since this may result in the insert being forced into the
hole without allowing the plastic to soften and flow around the surfaceprofile.

How do you install heat threaded inserts?

To install a thermoset threaded insert in plastic, follow these steps:

Choose the Right Insert: Select a thermoset insert that is appropriate for your application and compatible with the type of plastic you are using.

● Prepare plastic:
Drill a pilot hole: Use a drill to drill a hole in the plastic where you will mount the insert. The hole diameter should match the outer diameter of the insert. Refer to the specifications of the insert for the correct drill bit size.

Clean Holes: Make sure the holes are free of debris and dust for proper insertion.

● Heating Insert:
Preheat Soldering Iron: Allow your soldering iron or heating tool to reach the appropriate temperature (usually around 350°F or 180°C, but check your insert specifications).

Insert Tool: Hold the tip of the soldering iron against the insert for a few seconds to heat it. The goal is to heat the insert enough to slightly melt the surrounding plastic.

● Insert the threaded insert:
Place the Insert: Carefully place the heated insert into the guide hole. Make sure it is properly aligned and straight.

Press Down: Gently press the insert into the hole while maintaining pressure for a few seconds. The heat will melt the plastic slightly, allowing the insert to be firmly embedded.

● Cooling:
Remove Heat Source: Once the insert is fully seated, remove the soldering iron or heat tool.

Cool: Allow the insert to cool completely. This will allow the plastic around the insert to solidify, forming a strong bond.

● Test Insert:
Once the insert has cooled you can test it by screwing in a compatible screw to make sure it is securely fastened and the threads are working properly.

Tip:
Practice: If you are new to this process, practice on a piece of plastic waste first to get familiar with the technique.
SAFETY: When using heat tools, always wear goggles and gloves to prevent burns.
By following these steps, you can successfully install thermoset threaded inserts in plastics, providing a strong and durable threaded connection for your application.
