L4010 Threaded Inserts

L4010 Free Running Thread Inserts

The advantages:
The flexible characteristics of the thread insert ensure even load and stress distribution and therefore optimum flank contact. Deficient pitches and angles are compensated over the entire length of the thread insert. With this, an optimum force transmission from bolt to nut thread is achieved. The quality of screwed connections is considerably inscreased — for static as well as for dynamic operating loads.

Installation:
An installation mandrel with similar dimensions as a tap is all that is required for screwing in the thread insert.

What are wire thread inserts?

Wire thread inserts, also called helical coils or threaded inserts, are helical coils of metal or other material used to create or repair internal threads in a hole. They are often used in applications where the original threads have been stripped or damaged, or to provide a stronger thread in a softer material.

Main features and benefits:
Repair stripped threads: Wire thread inserts can restore the function of damaged threaded holes, allowing screws or bolts to be reinstalled.

Thread Strengthening: They can be used to strengthen threads in softer materials such as aluminum or magnesium to prevent stripping and increase load-bearing capacity.

Easy to Install: Inserts are generally easy to install using simple tools and require minimal preparation to insert into the hole.

Versatility: They come in a variety of sizes and materials, making them suitable for a wide range of applications from automotive to aerospace to general manufacturing.

Corrosion resistance: Many wire thread inserts are made of stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant materials, suitable for use in harsh environments.

Installation process:
Drilling: Drill the damaged threads to size to accommodate the insert.
Tapping: Then tap to create new threads that match the insert.
Insert: Use the special installation tool to insert the wire thread insert into the threaded hole.
Breakage: If the insert has a tang (a small piece that helps with installation), it will often break after installation.

Wire thread inserts are widely used in various industries such as automobiles, aerospace and machinery because they can effectively improve the durability and reliability of threaded connections.
