LWN Self-Clinching Nuts

Self-Locating Projection Weld Nuts – Type LWN, LWNS

Weld nuts (Types LWN/LWNS) provide load-bearing threads in metal sheets too thin to tap, and permit faster assembly.

Brand weld nuts overcome many problems associated with other weld nuts – burn-outs, complicated electrodes and pilots, tedious time-consuming indexing and re-tapping to remove weld spatter. Their design, based on the experience of hundreds of users of weld nuts, speeds production using standard equipment, thereby reducing labor costs.

Self-Locating Projection Weld Nuts – data
Q1: Why is the squeeze action so important during installation?
A: A controlled squeeze action ensures proper material flow and complete embedding of the clinching ring, while shock loads can cause incomplete seating, uneven pressure distribution, or damage to the fastener or sheet material.

Q2: Why shouldn't the punched hole be de-burred?
A: The burr created during punching helps create a more secure mechanical interlock when the clinching ring is embedded, enhancing the overall retention strength of the installed fastener.

Q3: What types of applications are these weld nuts suitable for?
A: These fasteners are ideal for:
    1. Automotive components and assemblies
    2. Electrical enclosures and cabinets
    3. Furniture manufacturing
    4. Any application where thin metal sheets require strong, reliable threads

Q4: How does the self-locating feature improve production efficiency?
A: The built-in locating feature eliminates the need for complex fixturing or manual alignment, allowing operators to quickly position nuts accurately before welding, thereby reducing assembly time and improving consistency.
