LWN Self-Clinching Nuts

Self-Locating Projection Weld Nuts – Type LWN, LWNS

Weld nuts (Types LWN/LWNS) provide load-bearing threads in metal sheets too thin to tap, and permit faster assembly.

Brand weld nuts overcome many problems associated with other weld nuts – burn-outs, complicated electrodes and pilots, tedious time-consuming indexing and re-tapping to remove weld spatter. Their design, based on the experience of hundreds of users of weld nuts, speeds production using standard equipment, thereby reducing labor costs.

Self-Locating Projection Weld Nuts – data
Q1: What are Self-Locating Projection Weld Nuts (Type LWN/LWNS) used for?
A: These weld nuts provide strong, load-bearing threads in metal sheets that are too thin to be tapped directly. They significantly accelerate assembly processes while maintaining high reliability.

Q2: What advantages do Brand weld nuts offer over conventional designs?
A: Our weld nuts effectively address common industry challenges:
    - Eliminate burn-outs during welding
    - Work with simple, standard electrodes (no complex pilots required)
    - Self-locating design avoids tedious indexing
    - No need for post-weld re-tapping due to weld spatter
    - Enable faster production using standard equipment
    - Reduce overall labor costs

Q3: What is the proper installation procedure?
A: Correct installation requires these critical steps:
    1. Tool Action: Always use a controlled squeeze action - never apply shock loads
    2. Hole Preparation: Punch a hole to the exact size specified in our technical data table
    3. Surface Condition: Do not de-burr the hole after punching
    4. Clinching Process: Apply sufficient pressure to fully embed the clinching ring around its entire circumference until the nut body contacts the sheet
    5. Fastener Installation: Insert screws or bolts from the side opposite the fastener body
